Laser Treatment Technology - Our Lasers

There are two key technologies that only the most sophisticated laser practitioners are using.

  1. Horizon Eye Centre of Harley Street London is delighted to offer two of the most advanced lasers currently available - the WaveLight Allegretto and the Carl Zeiss MEL80. This enhanced laser shortens the time needed to perform the laser correction, meaning shortened treatment times and less possible variation of results. This mens better vision for patients.

The WaveLIght Allegretto is a very small 0.9mm flying spot laser with a high 200 Hz repetition speed. Together with the Tscherning wavefront analyzer or through its in-built prolate profile enhancement, the Allegretto produces superb clinical outcomes.

The outcome shape using the Allegretto is more optically natural than previous lasers. Please note that most clinics in the UK do not use a laser with this improved prolate treatment profile as standard. Always ask about this.
This laser produces aspheric/prolate corneas (remembering that prolate is better than oblate), to help reduce any induced higher-order aberrations, especially spherical aberrations. This ensures the best possible results. The WaveLight Allegretto excimer laser has a wide diameter treatment zone, thereby making night vision problems very unlikely.

Do ensure that any standard laser treatment includes an enhanced prolate corneal profile, as provided by the WaveLight Allegretto and the Carl Zeiss MEL80 laser technology.

  2. Orbscan technology is used to help determine your surgical eligibility with certainty. At Horizon Eye Centre Harley Street, we satisfy ourselves that we are comprehensively assessing the health of your eye. The Orbscan sets a new standard for precision measurement of the anterior segment of the eye and provides data in the form of topographic surfaces. Elevation topography of the anterior cornea enables Horizon Eye Centre Harley Street to visualize the shape of the corneas more accurately, which leads to accurate diagnoses and consistent surgical results.
