Meet Our Surgeons
Mr.
David Allamby, FRCS(Ed),
FRCOphth is one of the top 5 CK surgeons in the world
and a specialist in laser eye treatment. He graduated
from Sheffield University Medical School in 1987, and
has specialised in ophthalmic surgery since 1989, becoming
a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh,
and then a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists
in 1993. He has worked at some of the United Kingdom’s
leading eye centres including Moorfields Eye Hospital
in London and the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. Mr.
Allamby’s published work in ocular scar formation was
undertaken at the University of Manchester, and was
funded by a prestigious Wellcome Trust grant. He specialises
in LASIK, LASEK, CK and other refractive treatments
which he performs full-time, and is one of a limited
number of surgeons in the United Kingdom to do so. He
was the first surgeon to perform CK for presbyopia in
the United Kingdom.
Mr.
Chris Heaven, FRCOphth,
FRCS(Ed), FCOptom graduated from Birmingham University
Medical School in 1985 and completed his specialty higher
surgical training at The Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester
1994-6 including a six months secondment to Flinders
Medical Centre, Adelaide, South Australia for corneal
subspecialty fellowship training. Mr. Heaven is a consultant
ophthalmologist to Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS
Trust since 1998, and previously at Palmerston North
Hospital, New Zealand during 1996-7. He is a general
ophthalmologist with special interest in cataract
and corneal refractive surgery, including LASIK, LASEK &
CK. Prior to medical training he also qualified as an
optometrist.
Mr.
Allamby and Mr. Heaven offer CK, in addition to LASIK
and LASEK laser vision correction, working together
with each patient to determine which procedure is most
suitable. They believe in the patient being actively
involved through a process of full informed consent,
so that they may make the best possible decision based
on state-of-the-art information.
